Snow Cone

With days getting warmer and warmer, all of us were craving for something cold. I thought of making some homemade snow cones to give ice creams and smoothies a break (less calories you know). Adding condensed milk adds a different twist to the conventional way of making it.
Ingredients:
 Crushed/shaved ice
 Condensed milk
 Rose syrup/Fruit syrup
 Method:
Put the crushed ice in a cup or glass and drizzle syrup and condensed milk over ice to your liking. Serve.

Pineapple Frappe

This is a refreshing cold drink ideal for the summer. As all the ingredients are readily available during the summer months, making this is a breeze. I typically would have vanilla ice cream in my refrigerator most of the time and whenever I want to give my daughter a special "treat" in place of her regular milk, this is something I whip up.

Ingredients:
Pineapple cubed - 1 cup
Vanilla ice cream - 1 cup
Cold Milk - 1/2 cup

Method:
Blend all the above ingredients together to a fine, smooth consistency. If you prefer it thinner, add more milk. If you need it a little more sweet, add sugar to taste.

Ice cream cupcakes

Though spring had started over a week ago it was still very cold. But everything changed today  and it felt more like summer with 80 degree Fahrenheit.Aishwarya had outdoor P.E and was all hot and sweaty when she came back from school. So I thought of making something to cool her down. As she wanted something really fast I thought of making this and it was ready by the time she was out of her bath (she takes very long baths, that helped too). The picture is not that good as it was taken in a hurry before the  ice cream  melted.
Ingredients:
Cupcake liners-8
Oreo Cookies-8(I used Double stuff )
Butter(melted)-1 tablespoon
Favorite ice cream flavor-1/2 gallon
Chocolate Flavored Shell Topping
Sprinkles
Method:
Make a fine powder of the cookies and mix in melted butter.Line cupcake pans with liners, into each liner add a tablespoon of cookie crumbs and cover with a square of wax paper, and use the base of a glass to pack and flatten the crumbs.Add ice cream layer, cover with a cling wrap and freeze. If you want multi flavored cupcakes add another layer after the first one sets. After about 45 minutes to an hour your ice cream would be frozen. Take it out and decorate with chocolate shell and sprinkles. Now your icecream cupcake is ready to enjoy.

Deconstructed Fried Ice cream

To deconstruct food is to take apart a dish or recipe or whatever into its different taste elements or Ingredients. This is my venture into making a deconsrtucted fried icecream. This is a very quick fix dessert that you can put together when you have an urge to have something sweet .
Ingredients: to serve 4
Bread slices-2
Butter-2 tsp
Ice cream-4 scoops (or as required)
Any fruit sauce-4 tsp(you can add 2 tsp of water to 2tsp of your favorite fruit jellies and microwave for 30 sec)
Method:
Heat a pan to medium heat. Add some butter and toast the bread on both sides. Serve the toasted bread, ice cream and sauce. The person having the dessert can put it together as they like. Isn't this an easy recipe to put together even on a busy weekday?
Enjoy!
